Easter Chickens!

For Easter we visited some of John's mom's extended family. John's cousin, once removed had bought some Easter chickens. She was saying that the chickens are injected with some dye either before hatching or right after. The color doesn't stay on them forever; they lose it when they lose their baby fuzz. They were pretty cute though. Levi finally held one, although he was very tentative at first.

Levi is understanding the concept of there being a variety of birds. There are different kinds of birds which make different noises. For instance, he know that a rooster goes "cock-a-doodle-doo" and he knows that a chicken goes "cluck, cluck". He still hasn't totally grasped all of the birds' sounds because this morning we were putting a puzzle together, and one of the pieces was an ostrich. I told him it was an ostrich and then he said, "cock-a-doodle-doo". :) That was the first time that phrase came out where I could totally understand what he was saying; however, it came out with the wrong bird. I tried to tell him that is not what an ostrich says, but I didn't know what to replace it with. Anyone know what an ostrich says?

Happy Birthday John!

It is John's Birthday (25) today and we have had/are going to have a very busy, fun day! John went to work for a half-day, and then as you can see down a couple entries we got our sonogram done today, we went out to eat with John's parents, grandma, aunt, and cousin, John went to youth group, and then we are going to head to bingo(we've never gone before but should be fun) :).

The first picture is Levi getting ready to go to the sportsmans show last Saturday. John took him and they had a great time together. They both found lots of things they wanted to buy. The last 30 minutes they were at the show, John fed Levi some apple which Levi started choking on almost immediately and then Levi threw up all over John's shoulder. He wasn't very excited about eating after that, and when he got home he went straight down for a nap. The second picture is Levi sleeping in the car. My 19 month old doesn't do this anymore and I miss it! We went out to visit one of my friends that lives an hour away and on the way home Levi fell asleep for the last 15 minutes. He was so cute sleeping in his little car seat. Then I got him up when we got home and put him in his crib. He decided he didn't want to sleep anymore!!! Maybe I should have just let him sleep in the car?!

19-week ultra sound!

We had our 19-week ultra sound today. John, Levi, and I (of course) all went to the hospital to see how this new baby was fairing in my belly. As it turns out, opposite of my original thoughts, we are having another little baby boy! He is healthy and normal the doctor said. The due date (sept. 5th) is still the same. For some it is hard to decipher a sonogram picture, but the head is on the right and the butt and legs are sticking up in the air a little on the left of the picture. The spine is visible and everything else is a mystery. We had fun watching the baby move around in my uterus and Levi kept pointing at the screen to say, "ooohh". I am really excited for Levi to have a younger brother, and my prayer is that they will get along and be good friends! Now the next step is finding a name for this one. We have a few ideas but haven't decided on anything for sure yet.

Hot!

I have to do a post about this because this is Levi's favorite word right now. HOT! He says this word at least 20 times a day and I am not exaggerating. I have never realized how many hot things we have in our house until Levi learned the word from his grandma Smith, and then when we had to start telling him not to touch certain things because they were "hot". We go throughout the day and these are all the things he tells me are hot: all pots are hot, the stovetop and oven are hot, anything sitting on the stovetop is hot (even if it is a spoon), anything that comes out of the microwave or oven is hot, candles are hot, hot pads are hot, his dinner is hot (even if it is cold), fireplaces are hot, matches are hot, water can be hot, anything in a mug is hot, something behind the fridge is hot (and I'm still not sure about this one), light bulbs are hot, the computer gets hot when it is used too much, the battery/plug-in to the computer is hot, and his favorite blanket is hot when it comes out of the dryer. Someday he will grow out of this word and I will miss it, because right now he says it with so much enthusiasm!

Level and Bananas

These are pictures from when Levi got to use papa's level. Levi was very excited that the level was magnetic and then he was also excited that there were "bubbles" that moved in the level. Papa showed him how to use it and Levi took it from there. Levi has also been into stacking things lately. I cut up some banana the other day and put it on his tray. A few minutes later, the bananas were stacked like this. :) It's the little things that make me smile throughout the day! I have to laugh because I don't expect him to stack his bananas, he just does it.
