The Peach

A few mornings ago, all four of us were sitting on our bed. I was asking Levi what color some of the dogs on Emerson's pj's were. "Orange, brown, blue," he said. Then I asked him what color papa was. Levi said that he didn't know. I said, "Peach." John started tackling Levi and wrestling with him a bit. Levi said, "Ahhhhh, the peach is getting me!"

Potty Training

If there was ever one part of parenting that I did not want to do, potty training was it. But now that it staring John and I right in the face, I don't have a choice but to tackle it. We starting potty training Levi a month and a half ago only to realize he wasn't quite ready, so we quit. We tackled it again this past Saturday and things went much more successfully! We stripped him down and let him wear underwear (disney's "Cars" and "Thomas the Train"-he loves his underwear), and a shirt. He had quite a few accidents Saturday and Sunday, but made about 3 or 4 successful pee trips on the potty. Monday, he went #2 and today when we went out, he stayed dry the entire time until he was put on the potty. We are so excited about his progress! He still wears pull-ups for naps and nighttime, but all of his nap pull-ups have been dry so far. The thing that brings the biggest smile to my face is the look that Levi gets on his face when he goes on the potty-the look that tells me he is sooooo proud of himself!

Emerson -5 months

Emerson is five months now-time flies when you are having fun! He is starting to sit up a bit, mostly with support. He hates the swing, infant seat, or being confined to any small space. He loves to roll around on the ground and he loves when his brother shows him toys or plays with him. Over the past month I have really enjoyed watching the two of them interact-Levi has really taken an interest in his brother. The boys are sleeping in the same room now and when I kiss Levi goodnight, I tell him he can sing or talk to Emery. I often hear him him singing to him or talking to him. :) We love Emerson's smiling face all day long. He has quite the laugh now and it makes my day!

Solids

Emerson is on his second day of solids! Well, I guess if you can count mushed up banana as a solid. :) He is doing as well as can be expected-he spits most of it out the first time around but eventually swallows it! He is one hungry boy, that is for sure.

Our blue-eyed Emery!

Wow, as I look at this picture I can't believe how big Emerson has gotten in the last 4 1/2 months! He is still a good eater and has the chubby legs and belly to prove it. He is rolling over from front to back and back to front, and he hates the swing now-that was short-lived. He loves to jump a lot! He also can sit up-if he can grab onto my fingers he can pull himself into a sitting position. In another month I will start him on solids and then I will be spending a lot more time in the kitchen since I make my own baby food. He makes me laugh all the time because he is so smiley! We have heard a few laughs out of him, but mostly he just smiles still.

Moose Calf

There have been two different moose calves in our yard this winter, but this one in particular has been spending the night! They have felt so comfortable as to come up to our front window and Levi and I have both been within inches of the moose with just glass in between. The moose are pretty fun to watch and add to our entertainment almost daily! Last Sunday we were coming home from church and we saw a moose chasing a man on a bicycle! We signaled to the man that he had a moose at almost full speed behind him, but the man looked at us like we had no right to be honking at him. He finally looked behind him and I'm sure he was a little scared. We talked to him after the moose had passed and he said that he had no idea she was even there. Scary! I guess I need to be careful when I am running with my ipod!

Icicles

Levi and I have made it outside a few times this winter to play in the backyard. One day we found a few icicles hanging off the side of the house and I showed Levi that they were yummy to eat. He had fun sticking them in the snow and pretending they were swords. I love that he likes to play in the snow because I had so much fun playing in it as a kid!
